Top LFW Hairstyles

All eyes look to the catwalks of London Fashion Week when it comes to scoping out the hottest upcoming trends in fashion, makeup and hair. London Fashion Week is certainly not disappointing us this year and here at Additional Lengths, we’re excited to share with you some of our favourite hair trends from the best designers around.

Whether you’re a fan of the amazing iconic hairstyles that are definitely destined to stay on the catwalk due to their outlandish looks, or interested in incorporating some designer inspired hair trends into your own hairstyles this year – read on for inspiration.

Playing with textures

Contrasting undone mid-lengths and ends with a polished front section of the hair, the hairstyles displayed by models walking the Jamie Wei Huang show are easy to replicate. Reminding us of a ‘morning after the night before’ look, we can just imagine trying to tame the back of our hair whilst the front has loyally remained in place after being hairsprayed the evening before! The hair is parted in the centre and smoothed back before being treated to a backcombing at the crown and mid-lengths for an interesting mix of textures. Not necessarily an iconic hairstyle in itself, but certainly one we could imagine replicating!

To create a wearable version of this look, comb hair back to the crown and smooth down with hairspray and secure with hairgrips behind the ears. Next, backcomb hair gently at the crown with a brush such as a Tangle Teezer to avoid damaging the hair. A generous spritz of hairspray will keep the volume in place and you’ll have a 60’s inspired hairstyle!

Baby fringes

A big hair trend for 2019 is the short blunt fringe and it was perfectly executed in the fashion industry newcomer Matt Bovan’s show on the first day of LFW. Complimenting a short bob beautifully, choppy bangs frames a face perfectly and allows expressive eyebrows to be seen. For a glossy dark bob and blunt fringe, use a hair oil from Moroccan Oil to smooth the hair and add a light reflecting shine.

Feminine low ponytails

No hairstyle could be easier or more simple, but the low ponytails at the Victoria Beckham LFW show were a fine example of understated elegance that worked perfectly. Centre partings and loose ponytails were a feminine contrast to the sharp structures of the clothes, and tendrils of hair pulled around the face softened the look further. A very basic hair trend for spring but a classic that will never go out of fashion!

What were your favourite hairstyles from London Fashion Week 2019?

If you’re planning on taking inspiration from the glamorous catwalk trends for your spring and summer hair looks, we have everything you need right here at Additional Lengths to create the very best hairstyles. Treat yourself to luxurious locks with our human hair extensions from Remi Cachet or style up a storm with our various ranges of hairstyling tools and products from brands such as ghd and Cloud Nine. The Best Celebrity Hairstyle Highlights From 2018

Celebrity hairstyles never fail to give us hair envy and inspiration. Whether its a much-loved singer going for the chop for a new look, or a socialite rocking a brand new hair colour – celebs are often first in line when it comes to hair trends. There are plenty of celebrity hair highlights that are included in our 2018 hair inspiration list, so let’s take a look at some of our favourites which are bound to remain popular going into the New Year.

Bella Hadid – 60’s Fringe

It may be a clip-in fringe for a temporary transformation for a modelling campaign, but model of the moment Bella Hadid knows how to rock the feminine fringe. A lightly feathered fringe that comes just below the eyebrows is a flattering, face-framing fringe type that works well with any hair length. Bella Hadid had her fringe layered down the side of her face for a soft finish that looks fabulous with her hair pulled into a high ponytail with a bit of height at the crown for that classic 1960’s vibe.

Beyonce – Honey Highlights

Is there anyone in the celebrity world more glam than Queen Bey? Pulling off her iconic quiet sophistication, this year Beyonce lightened up the ends of her locks by opting for extra luxe human hair extensions with a soft honey balayage.

We offer full and half weft hair extensions, tape and clip in hair extensions so you can commit to the luxe hair life, or opt for clip-ins for a temporary update.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock – Green Braids

We love a girl who expresses her fun personality by experimenting with her hair, and Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock really mixed it up this year with her recent vibrant green braids. From the stunning green hue, super long length and unravelled ends, this is a look only a strong woman can pull off – and Leigh-Anne sure knows how to work it!

Kim Kardashian – Platinum Luxury

Queen of the long dark hair Kim Kardashian took us all by surprise this year by undergoing a glamorous hair transformation by going platinum blonde. Not only did she shock with a new hair colour, but the savvy business woman also took the plunge by chopping her hair into a long bob.

The Short Hair Trend

Short hair is beautiful. There are many variations of shorter hair that helps to frame the face and enhance features – simply put, it looks great on so many people. With the latest designers sending their models onto the catwalk with faux bobs, it’s an upcoming hair trend that is about to be everywhere. Let’s take a look at the popular winter hair trend and discover how to get the perfect cut for you to help get the most out of your lovely locks, no matter your hair type.

As we’re a leading hair extensions supplier, it wouldn’t be an Additional Lengths hair trends post without some styling tips using hair extensions. If you’re looking for ways to update your short hair or wanting a temporary transformation to add length, read ahead to see how we can help you!

The cut

Whether we’re talking a simple trim to tidy up your already short hair, or taking multiple inches off the lengths for a whole new haircut, getting the cut right is important. So, if you’re thinking about making the leap, how can you tell if short hair will suit you?

Things to consider if you’re thinking of going for the chop include:

  • Face shape
  • Hair type
  • Fringe style
  • Layers

As with any haircut, a good hairstylist will take your face shape into consideration when they are planning how to do your cut. A long face should avoid a cut that will add height, such as a pixie cut, so a chin-length bob or a longer bob that sits above the shoulders will suit this face type best. A bob will exaggerate the roundness of the face, so opt for a longer bob if you have a round face for a more flattering haircut. Those with a heart-shape or oval face shape can easily rock the pixie cut and style out any length of hair.

A sweeping fringe or a blunt fringe with a bob both look stunning and will suit a range of different face shapes. A fringe with short hair just finishes the hairstyle off perfectly and is definitely worth considering.

Finally, layers will add texture to your hair cut but the way it looks will depend on your hair type. Ladies with curly hair should ideally stick with a one-length cut to help the hair sit better, but those with straight or wavy hair can work the layered look well.

How to style short hair

When it comes to styling short hair, there is a hairstyle suitable for every hair type and length. Play around with different partings and use heated stylers from Cloud Nine to straighten the hair or create glamorous waves. To keep the hair off your face, take the top section of hair and tie it up into a bobble for a cute short hair version of the top knot.

If your bob is looking a little lacklustre and flat, we recommend using a dry shampoo or a texturising spray to add some texture and volume at the roots. Using a brush to gently create volume at the crown by backcombing at the root with a hairbrush can also bring your hair to life. Alternatively, tame flyaways and create a sleek, sophisticated bob with hair serum or shine spray which will calm down any frizziness.

Hair extensions for short hair

Understandably, there are times where we will long for a brand new look to freshen up our appearance, and a shorter haircut can really provide that transformation. But whether you’re a committed short hair gal or new to the hairstyle, there are hair extension options which can act as a way to change your look completely – for just one night or for months at a time.

We stock an array of fabulous hair extensions for short hair at Additional Lengths, such as the range of Remi Cachet Clip In Deluxe hair extensions which can be securely attached to the hair in separate pieces. The multiple pieces of the clip in hair extensions are designed in different sizes to ensure that you can blend your own hair with the extensions effortlessly. Clip in hair extensions are a great way to mix up your short hair with extra length for a special occasion or to try out a new ombre style.

To add volume to a shorter hair cut, we sell 12” length hair extensions which work well to give your natural hair a boost. The addition of shorter length extensions can actually improve the look of your own hair and hold hairstyling better, such as waves and curls. A good set of human hair extensions can also be a wonderful way to help with the awkward growing out stage of short hair, bridging the gap between a short cut and longer lengths.

Get ready for the short hair trend this winter by considering which cut will suit you best and how to make this style work for you before getting the chop, and just know that we’ll always be here with our luxury human hair extensions to change up your look!

SS19 Hair Trends: LFW Edition

fashion week

As the dust settles on the catwalks of London Fashion Week 2018, many of us are still soaking up the beauty of the upcoming fashion trends for the next season. Without a doubt, the main focus of any runway is the latest clothing designs from the hottest brands in the world, but fashion makeup and hair has also become just as important. Today at Additional Lengths we’re recapping some of the SS19 hair trends from the fashion week events and suggesting ways to rock them as everyday hairstyles.

If you’re feeling in a bit of rut with your day-to-day hairstyle, then these SS19 hair trends are bound to perk you up with some inspiration!

Wet Look Hair

We’ll start off with the SS19 hair trend that you may want to only experiment with after a shower before reaching for the blow dryer. Calvin Klein sent models down his ‘Jaw’s themed runway with incredibly wet hair that dripped down from the ends onto the clothes, with many models displaying damp tendrils of hair clinging to their face. Hairstylist Sam McKnight was behind the eccentric look and suggests using lots of water, gel and oil to get the look at home.

A post shared by Hair By Sam McKnight (@hairbysammcknight) on

For a tamer and easier to style version of the wet hair trend, we suggest taking McKnight’s advice with the products; using a brush like a Tangle Teezer and hair oil or gel to slick the hair back onto the head before hairspraying into place to avoid the ‘just stepped out of the shower’ look.

Glossy Bob

The Ashley Williams show was a whole host of different styles merged into one, with goth and 1920’s flapper girl vibes posing a curious look. BLEACH London stylist, Alex Brownsell, created beautifully glossy bobs or faux bobs on their model’s hair, with blunt fringes making a great impact on the overall look, plus the addition of diamante hair clips to bring the hairstyle more up to date. Also in this show was hair inspired by those 1990’s Trolls with a high ponytail hairsprayed up in the air, but this look may not be suitable for the office!

If you don’t have a fringe and you’re not contemplating opting for the cut any time soon, you can still recreate this London Fashion Week hairstyle by taking a curling wand by Cloud Nine and waving the hair before using hair grips to tuck the hair at the nape of the neck. This will give the impression of a bob without a pair of hair cutting scissors in sight! Get the fabulous Ashley Williams shine by gently smoothing a shine spray or serum over the hair so it will glint in the light beautifully.

Centre Parting, Low Ponytail

For a powerful hairstyle that is bound to get you feeling like a boss, take a look at the business-like SS19 hair trend from Max Mara. Fashion giant gave models centre partings with hair slicked back into a low ponytail with a leather wrap-around hair accessory before braiding the full length of the hair. Model Kaia Gerber looked every inch the glamour puss with her long braid, the contrast of the smooth hair over the crown and sides into the plait worked effortlessly. This is a great London Fashion Week inspired hairstyle for work as its smart and simple to do on a morning.

If your hair lacks the length for this fashionable long braid, we recommend opting for high quality human hair extensions from Remi Cachet. With such a fantastic array of shades and blends, you’re bound to find the perfect match for you so that you can imitate the chic Max Mara braided ponytail. Alternatively, a clip in ponytail could save the day for a temporary fix!

With a great insight into upcoming SS19 hair trends, we’re able to find ways to adapt the popular looks to suit our own style. Additional Lengths offers a huge selection of human hair extensions, hair accessories and hair care products which can be used all year round, no matter the season!

Top 5 Bun Hairstyles

There are so many hairstyles that give you the creativity to play with texture and patterns, but perhaps the most underrated hairstyle of all is the humble hair bun. This simple style is usually reserved for those ‘down days’ where a messy bun is the only thing you can think to do with your hair, as it gives you the ability to ride out the between-washes days while still looking relatively put together, but bun hairstyles also have a whole host of different variations to offer. At Additional Lengths we’re loving the current hair trend of buns right now and we want to share our top 5 bun hairstyle ideas to give you inspiration when it comes to styling your own locks.

Whether you’re looking for bun hairstyles for long hair or buns for short hair, there’s bound to be a look in this list to suit you!

Classic Messy Bun

It may be hard to believe, but that quick, messy bun that you do for the gym or while you’re doing your makeup in the morning can be a turned into a gorgeous hairstyle that looks like you’ve put more effort into it than you actually have! If you want to hide day two or three hair, spritz a generous amount of dry shampoo into brushed hair and collect at the top of the head before gathering the hair into a loose bun. The key here is to allow the hair to escape the bun and look ‘undone’ rather than slicked back with product into a rigid, round bun. To add more volume, go for the Remi Cachet Wavy Wrap which can create a voluminous bun and is great for those messy updo hairstyles.

A post shared by Hailey Baldwin (@haileybaldwin) on

Get the perfect messy bun like model Hailey Baldwin by pulling out a few strands of hair to frame your face and use hair grips instead of a hair bobble to secure the bun for a more casual finish.

Half Up, Half Down

A great hairstyle for long, thick hair is the half up, half down hairstyle with a bun in the top section and the bottom section left loose. This will take some weight out of the length of the hair. The bottom section can be straightened or styled into luxurious waves with a curling wand from Cloud Nine for extra texture and volume in the lengths.

If you have short to mid-length hair and would like a complete hair transformation, then half up hairstyles with a top knot can look fabulous with clip in hair extensions. The clip in human hair extensions from Remi Cachet offer a luxurious way to lengthen your hair and can look amazing teamed with the top knot bun, providing a great contrast in the two sections of hair.

Space Buns

The hairstyle of the 2018 festival season has definitely been the incredibly popular space bun trend. The cute hairstyle with Spice Girls nostalgia is an Instagram favourite that can be styled up with glitter for special occasions, or worn as an alternative to the half up, half down bun hairstyle.

Shake things up a bit with your space buns by braiding the hair from the nape of the neck upwards towards a bun on the top of the head. This may require a helping hand but the results are worth it!

Braided Buns

Buns are the perfect way to keep hair up and off your neck and face during the summer, and if you’ve got a late summer holiday booked you may want to consider this pretty bun hairstyle for the beach. A braided bun can be done as two separate buns or just one bun, the simple difference being the hair should be in a plait or a fishtail braid before being wrapped around itself to become a bun.

A post shared by Jourdan Dunn (@jourdandunn) on

Gorgeous supermodel Jourdan Dunn does braided buns in supreme style with a centre parting and her hair slicked into two mid positioned plaited buns for a quirky hairstyle that’s ideal for festivals or casual days.

Low Bun

The ultimate sophisticated hairstyle that can work on long and short hair is the classic low bun. To create a beautiful low bun, brush the hair into a ponytail at the nape of the neck then twist and wrap the hair around the ponytail itself to form a bun before securing with another hair bobble or with hair grips. Smooth down the hair from the front to the back with a little hair serum, such as a hair oil from Moroccan Oil, and keep the bun in place with lashings of firm hold hairspray to keep it in place. The low bun hairstyle is a stylish hair look that’s perfectly suitable for work and can even be turned into a messy low bun hairstyle by teasing out sections of hair for a more mussed up finish.

A post shared by Selena Gomez (@selenagomez) on

Add texture to your low bun hairstyle like Selena Gomez by curling your hair and adding texturising spray to the lengths before gathering it into a bun. The texturising spray will also add lots more hold!

We love the wide range of looks that you can achieve with different variations on the classic bun hairstyle. From statement space buns to lazy messy buns and top knots, no matter your preferred style, there will be a bun for you! Create the best look for every occasion with Additional Lengths and our ranges of professional heated hair stylers, brushes and combs and hair styling products.

Top 5 Braid and Plait Ideas

Women with braided hair in surrounded by flowers

It’s that time of year again where we are taking the chance to show off our hair and spend extra time getting creative with it! Summer is the best season to show off your favourite hairstyles and braids. From festivals, to weddings, there’s a hairstyle for every occasion. Plaits are great for all hair types and lengths and offer something different to any other hair style and they can be as easy or as difficult as you make it!

Here at Additional Lengths, we’ve put together our top five list of easy braided hairstyles to keep you cool this summer, whether you plan to camp out beside a pool somewhere exotic, or simply have many trips to the park with friends in mind!

Scalp plaits with a twist

Scalp plaits are an easy way to get your hair out of your face, but the intricacy of the look gives the impression that you’ve made a lot of effort! Ordinary scalp plaits can be fun but, why not try something different and join the two plaits together or create multiple plaits? This adds something a little different than just having two normal plaits, creating a more interesting, unique look. You can either curl the ends or be more alternative and tie them up. Scalp plaits, or French braids, are the perfect summer hairstyle.

Plaits with space buns

If you’re heading to a festival this year, why not spice your plaits up and add some space buns? Plain scalp plaits are the ultimate festival look due to the fact that they can hide dirty hair easily, yet still look well put together. Adding space buns into the mix creates a more edgy look, and it keeps your hair up and out of your way! Space buns are easy to do and maintain for the entire day and night, and can be created by using two hair bobbles, a few hair grips and hairspray to secure. Add some glitter to spice up your scalp and you’re good for the day!

Wedding look

Been invited to a wedding or a special event this summer? For a classic, elegant look, go for a braided updo. This kind of hairstyle is perfect for any formal occasion as they keep the hair off your neck and shoulders in a sophisticated updo. From weddings to christenings, proms to graduations, a braided updo is the easiest way to look elegant. Michelle Keegan sported an elegant braided bun updo at this year’s BAFTA awards by having a chic bun turned into a teased braid, backcombed at the crown and finished off with feminine tendrils of hair framing her face.

A post shared by michkeegan (@michkeegan) on

Another way to incorporate braids into your more formal updo for the perfect bridal hairstyle is to add a scalp plait which leads into a bun, creating a beautifully textured hair look that shows off all of the multiple tones of the hair colour perfectly!

Half up half down

Scalp plaits are all in this summer! But if you aren’t feeling whole plait thing, why not go for a toned down, half up, half down plaited hairstyle? This style is a lot more relaxed than a full head of plaits, and allows you to have a lot more freedom with what you what to do with the ends of your hair. Straighten them or use a Cloud Nine Curling Wand to add waves and texture to the ends of your hair for extra dimension to your summer hairstyle. If you don’t fancy a scalp plait, be different and go for an alternative fishtail braid.

The braided headband

Dare to be different and try a braided headband this summer! A braided headband offers something a little different to any ordinary braid, as it can look as smart or as casual as you want it to. You can wear it in alternative ways, to complete your chosen look. Try adding a Moroccan Oil texturising spray on hair that hasn’t been washed for a day or so, to ensure the texture is there for more staying power when creating this as a casual hairstyle. Plait the hair from one side of the head to the other, using as little or as much hair as you’d like depending on the thickness of the braid you desire. This summer hairstyle can be great for keeping your fringe off your forehead!

If you love braids and plaits and you’re exploring the possibility of trying out a new kind of look this summer, then Additional Lengths have got you covered with the best hairstyles that feature this popular look.

Summer Hair Inspo: Love Island Edition

The TV show that focuses on the coupling up of lust- at-first sight partners has had us gripped all summer so far, and it’s not just the romances and break ups that have caught our attention. The guys and gals in Love Island have had their fashionable wardrobe catered for by online retailer Missguided, and with rumours of behind the scenes hairstylists on hand to create the various hair looks, we’re so envious of the glamorous hairstyles! From the luxuriously long locks of Samira to the shorter hair of Kaz, here at Additional Lengths we’re taking a closer look at our new summer hairstyle inspiration – Love Island.

Top knot

What cooler way to keep the hair off your neck and face in the blistering sun than to sweep it up into a chic top knot? Gorgeous Kaz is a big fan of the classic top knot as she regularly has her hair styled this way for evening drinks at the Love Island villa. The blonde shades at the ends and mid lengths of her hair offer a great contrast to her darker natural hair colour. Get this sleek top knot look like Kaz by using a Tangle Teezer brush to smooth out any tangles or bumps in the hair, brushing the hair together into a ponytail at the crown before taking the ponytail and wrapping it around itself and securing with a hair tie and hair grips. Beat the humidity and banish frizz with a bit of Moroccan Oillight hair oil that will tame flyaways whilst providing a shine.

A post shared by Love Island (@loveisland) on

Kaz works this summer hairstyle perfectly with one of our favourite Love Island outfits – the Bardot top. Work an off-the-shoulder top with a pair of statement earrings like the Love Island girls for that instant holiday look!

Bouncy waves

Beautiful waves in long hair can be a fabulous look all year round, but beach waves are definitely a summer hairstyle you’ll want to emulate. Love Island goddess Samira knew how to style her summer waves perfectly, adding volume to the root and around the face for hair that looked healthy and glamorous. The Love Island girls are often filmed getting ready for their romantic escapades in the dressing room and they love using straighteners and curling wands equally when it comes to creating their beachy waves. We love the ghd Classic Wave Wand when it comes to getting perfect, locked in waves that last all day long. Get shimmering waves and luxurious movement in the hair like Samira by using the wave wand by ghd and complement the look with a pair of hoop earrings for an on-trend finish.

A post shared by Love Island (@loveisland) on

In true Love Island outfit style, innovative bikini and swimming costume designs have been played with this year. Experiment with various cuts and find a brand new shape or creatively designed bikini, like the one Samira chose with the gold hardware, to see which you will love most on holiday. Just be aware of the potentially interesting tan lines!

High ponytail

A look that has become synonymous with Love Island has to be the high ponytail that Laura and Georgia regularly sport. It’s such an easy and versatile summer hairstyle that can look good as a full ponytail, or by dividing the hair horizontally and putting the top half into a ponytail for a half-up and half-down hairstyle. Hide the hair tie by taking a small section of the hair to wrap around the ponytail like Georgia to add an extra feature to the simple hairstyle. Get the glamorous long hair of the Love Island babes by opting for good quality human hair extensions from Remi Cachet to experience that princess inspired long hair ponytail look! With various application methods on offer, including tape hair extensions and pre-bonded human hair extensions, with Remi Cachet, all of your summer hair goals can be achieved.

Hair care on the island

With countless hours spent in the pool over the course of a two month stay, the girls of Love Island will hopefully be using hair masks and hair treatments to keep their locks looking and feeling good all summer long. At Additional Lengths, we recommend using a gentle hair brush and a nourishing hair mask from Malibu C to restore the vitality of the hair and giving it a radiant shine after the possibly damaging effects of swimming pool water. Also, spending all day in the sun can take its toll on hair so if you’re planning on soaking up the rays like the Love Island residents this summer, then take a baseball cap to wear to cover the scalp, or plait the hair to protect it from exposure to the sun. Keep suncream away from the hair too as it can discolour hair extensions.

Whoever your favourite Love Island lady is, we can bet that she will have displayed a stunning array of different hairstyles during her time gracing our television screens. From Samira’s beautifully wavy long, dark hair to Georgia’s high ponytail, Love Island has provided some fantastic hair inspiration this year! So take to the hair products available Additional Lengths and replicate your favourite look easily.

Changing Your Look With Hair Extensions

For those considering investing in pre bonded hair extensions or a set of clip in hair extensions, take a look at the ways that you can change your look with extensions to really transform your hair. Whether you’re a hair extensions fan already or someone who is curious to see what they can do for your hair, at Additional Lengths we have some fabulous products which will make your decision easy!

From short to long

Depending on the length of your natural hair, you can begin a rather extreme transformation by having hair extensions installed into short haircuts for beautiful long locks. The Remi Cachet hair extensions are perfect for getting those luxurious waves or silky straight tresses you might long for if you’ve had a shorter haircut for a while. There’s no need to wait for your hair to grow out to enjoy longer hair! Our range of Remi Cachet human hair extensions are gorgeous, with so many natural shades to choose from and colour match with. Ladies with short hair can have pre bonded extensions attached (there should be a minimum length of a few inches to allow the bonds to have a secure hold on the hair) as a way to grow out their cropped hairstyle.

For something that requires a little less commitment, clip in hair extensions can be a short haired girl’s best friend when it comes to changing up hairstyles for a special occasion.

Experiment with ombré or root stretch

Sometimes we spot a particular celebrity hairstyle in a magazine or on Instagram and wonder if we’d be able to rock the same look, before ending the daydream and moving on. But the beauty of hair extensions, and in particular clip in hair extensions, you’re free to embrace brand new looks. The popular ombré hair dye look, or root stretch, takes the hair from a darker shade into a gradual lighter shade toward the mid-lengths and ends. If you’ve been considering making the move with lightening the ends of your hair, then experimenting with clip in human hair extensions that already have that style dyed may be perfect for you!

Opt for special ombré hair extensions from the ombre, dip dye and root stretch collection from Remi Cachet that have a root colour in the same shade as your own colour for a more natural appearance before blending the hair together. From dark ash brown blending into natural ash blonde to a subtle change with darkest brown to medium chestnut brown, there’s a stunning blend of hair shades on offer available in the ombre hair look.

Boost the volume

Take inspiration from celebrities on the red carpet by utilising hair extensions for their volume boost. Those with thinning or natural thin hair can enjoy an injection of thickness and volume in their tresses by selecting high quality, clip-in human hair extensions which can be styled with heated hair tools to get luxuriously long waves.

To get the desired volume, we would recommend opting for clip in hair extensions with multiple pieces so that volume can be directed exactly where you needed. Secure your human hair extensions around the crown for a subtle lift at the roots and use a curling wand to create bouncy waves, blending the hair together as you go. You can even use clip in hair extensions to create a retro beehive look!

Trial a fringe

A great way to change your look with hair extensions is to test out a fringe. If you’re in two minds whether to go for the chop and get some bangs, then special clip in fringes can give you a preview of what type of fringe to go for. Select a clip in fringe in your hair colour and attach securely, before sweeping to the side for a sleek side fringe or styling it as a blunt fringe. Zero commitment and you don’t have to wait months for the hair to grow out – a clip in fringe can also be cut by a stylist to have it tweaked to suit your face shape.

If you’re venturing into the world of hair extensions, you’ll need some quality aftercare products to help keep them looking fabulous. The range of hair extensions aftercare products at Additional Lengths provides everything you need to keep extensions fresh and in good condition.

With the human hair extensions from Remi Cachet you can use heated tools on them to style them however you want, so you’re free to explore the luxurious waves look as a simple bridal hairstyle.

Classic Updo

For the ladies searching for wedding hair ideas that involves keeping the hair up and off the face and neck, there’s plenty of hairstyles that brides can opt for. Many brides choose the classic bun or beehive look for their wedding day hair, and with some additional hair accessories these styles can be easily achieved with minimal effort. We love the gorgeous bridal up do by stylist Nicola Orlando with additional embellishments!

To create the perfect large bun, we would recommend using a bun ring which you can wrap your hair around for a smooth, perfectly shaped bun that can be placed neatly at the back of the head for a sophisticated finish. You can choose a bun ring which is the same colour as your own hair to ensure a subtle look, and secure the hair with hair grips and a generous spritz of firm hold hairspray such as the Moroccan Oil Strong Hold Hairspray.

Feminine Braids & Twists

After your hair is bouncing with waves, you now have a great base for building upon the hairstyle as the volume is now already there! We love the look of traditional braids or twists taken from the front sections of hair and brought to the back of the head and secured, with the bottom section of the hair left wavy. This simple bridal hairstyle is so pretty and can be made as unique as you like, with straight, curly, wavy hair of all lengths.

Fuse two styles together by trying out a plaited updo which involves a French braid taken from the top or crown of the head into a full braid and then the lengths tucked underneath at the nape of the neck. You could do different braid styles including fishtail to create more interest and to make it look like a more complicated hairstyle than it actually is. This is a wonderful bridal hairstyle for those with fine hair or long hair looking for a flattering wedding updo.

Bridal Hair Accessories

The traditional veil will always take centre-stage when it comes to bridal hair accessories, but there are other finishing touches that can be made to add to your wedding hair. As seen on many catwalks this fashion season, the hair barrette has recently made a comeback due to its ability to add extra detail to the hair without interfering with the hairstyle itself. A bridal barrette should fit in with the wedding theme, whether it’s diamante encrusted or a matching metal with your bridal jewellery. One barrette on a side parting or two pinned at the side of the head on either side of a parting is a wonderful way to add a bridal hair accessory for summer. We love the statement bridal hair accessory added by stylist Tracey Roche to a shorter hairstyle.

2018 Festival Hair & Make Up Ideas

Festivals are the perfect opportunity to get dressed up and try new hair and makeup looks in the name of embracing creativity and experimentation outside of your usual hair and beauty routine. Whether you’re planning on dancing in the DJ tent until the early hours, or sipping a cold pint whilst listening to your favourite band on the main stage, get to know our favourite festival hair and makeup ideas and try them out for yourself!

Long gone are the days of ditching the makeup and tying your unwashed hair up in a bun for the long weekend (although that is perfectly fine too!) – festival hair and makeup are all about pushing the boundaries. Go as daring as you like with our Additional Lengths festival hair trends and playful makeup ideas.

Get Nostalgic With Space Buns

A hairstyle that really does have a place in festival hair trends year after year has to be the classic set of space buns. With the playful look of space buns that give us serious Spice Girls nostalgia, it’s a festival hairstyle that can be worn on any day and has some great variations that you can try. Whether you want to rock a half head of space buns with two buns and the rest of the hair left down, or you’re looking to keep your hair up completely with the buns taking all of your hair, we love the look of this classic festival hairstyle! Check out beauty blogger Anna Zeller and her fabulous Coachella hairstyles.

As one of the most easy festival hair ideas, to create your space buns simply part the hair in two sections and apply some Moroccan Oil dry shampoo to add extra texture and hold. Next, take one side of the hair and secure in a high ponytail, then twist the hair before wrapping it around the hair bobble on top of your head to create a bun. Secure with a hair tie or hair grips before doing the same on the other side. This technique can also be used to create smaller buns with half of the hair, leaving the rest of the hair down, which is a great way to add more impact with your festival hairstyle by using clip in hair extensions!

Party Braids

A braided hairstyle for a festival can be as easy or complex as you’d like, depending on time and skill. French braids are a fabulous idea for the second or third day of the festival when your hair isn’t freshly washed and has more texture. This type of braid can look great all most hair lengths. A French braid starts from the top of the scalp, in either two or one plaits, and continues down to the nape of the neck. It may be worthwhile asking a camp mate to do this for you!

Pack some hair grips and a travel sized hairspray in your backpack for this next one – ultra cute milkmaid braids. This bohemian style look can be the perfect way to keep mid-length hair off your neck and face, whilst giving the hair extra dimension with the crossed over plaits. To get milkmaid braids, simply create two loose plaits at either side of your head, and take one at a time, bringing them over to the other side of your head before securing with hair grips. Pull out any sections of fringe to frame the face for a softened finish.

Finally, the bonus of wearing braids is that when you take them out the next day you’ve got wonderfully crimped hair! Depending on your hair type and how tightly your hair was braided, you’ll have beautiful loose waves or bouncy waves that can be freshened up with a spritz of dry shampoo.

Glitter Makeup

Where better place to experiment with glitter makeup than at your favourite summer festival? You certainly won’t be alone in the experimental makeup department that’s for sure! Invest in some different sized glitter, from shiny specs of gold to larger shimmer stars, and bring along a pot of Vaseline as a way to adhere the glitter to your face. Apply Vaseline to wherever you’d like the glitter to stay put on your face – we suggest along the apples of the cheeks and brow bones as a playful highlighter. Take the glitter up into the hair by sprinkling in your hair parting for extra glam.

Festival makeup calls for lots of colour, and if there’s something you definitely need to have in your paired back festival makeup bag, it’s coloured eyeliner. A bright blue or purple hued eyeliner can look gorgeous on brown or hazel eye colours, whilst a shiny gold or copper will really make blue and green eyes pop. Take inspiration from the latest catwalk beauty trends by going for two coloured eyeliners that can be applied to the top and bottom lashes for a splash of colour to waken up your complexion.
