Easy Party Season Hairstyle Ideas

Portrait of beautiful woman with perfect curly hairstyle

The festive season is all about the parties and celebrations, but with so many different invites arriving at your door or inbox, how do you create different looks for each event? At Additional Lengths we have some excellent options to help you mix it up this party season with different hairstyle ideas, to hair extensions.

Experiment with colour

Our Additional Lengths feather hair extensions are ideal for those who wish to inject a bit of their creative personality into their festive hairstyle. Opt for complementary, subtle colours to suit your natural hair such as golden badger, autumn falls, natural ginger or black ice, or embrace the vibrancy of royal blue, purple or scarlet red. Attach these beautiful coloured feather hair extensions and create a plaited hairstyle where only bits of the colours show through the hair for an interesting look.

Transform your hair for the night

Whether you want to add extra length or to pump up the volume of your hair, we can help you with our range of clip-in hair extensions. The Additional Lengths instant volume weaves and hair on a wire pieces are ready to wear for an easy styled look that just need to be attached to your own hair for instant length and volume. These hair pieces can be blended perfectly to look like your natural hair. Add in a clip-in fringe for a completely new look without the commitment!

A festive up-do

For a perfectly styled bun we have some lovely clip in bun options available for you to choose from which takes the stress out of trying to create a smooth updo. No rogue hair pins here! If you’re after some texture, we recommend the braided clip-in bun or the celebrity inspired beehive clip-in bun which offers a gorgeous textured finish for something a little different.

Invest in hair extensions

We have an impressive range of weft hair extensions in various shades which are easy to care for and style. Use a heated hair wand to create soft waves or for a more sleek look, use GHD hair straighteners. Contact us for professional advice if you’re considering hair extensions and we will be more than happy to help.

How To Protect Your Hair In Winter

Winter can be a tough time for hair with the cold air often drying out our tresses and causing moisture loss and damage. Whether you’re wanting to protect your hair extensions or natural hair in the coming months, we’ve got some simple tips to help you protect your hair in winter time.

Treat your locks

Apply a nourishing hair treatment overnight to give it optimum time to sink into the hair thoroughly for a more effective treatment. The Additional Lengths Hair Extension Vitamin Spray infuses the hair with specially formulated nutrients and protects it against harsh weather and prevents tangles. Even if you can apply a deep conditioning hair treatment whilst you relax in the bath, your hair will thank you for it.

Cover up against the elements

Wear a hat, pull up your hood, anything to protect your hair from being pulled about by the wind or hit with cold rain. A good way to protect the more vulnerable ends which are more prone to breakage is to tuck away the ends into a hairstyle such as a bun or an updo.

Handle with care

As your hair is more likely to become brittle and prone to breakage, we recommend that you invest in a gentle brush such as those from the Tangle Teezer range. The soft plastic bristles of a Tangle Teezer brush are ideal for gentle smoothing and detangling, which makes them the perfect winter hair care tool.

Reduce moisture loss

Other things that we do can be the cause of moisture loss, such as blow drying, so try to reduce this by allowing your hair to dry naturally. Over-shampooing can also be a moisture wicking activity that you may wish to cut down on during the colder months; reduce your hair washing to once or twice a week. It’s not just the lengths of the hair than can get dry – some people also suffer with dry scalps at this time of the year. Remedy this by massaging an oil into the scalp and letting it nourish the skin there before washing.

5 Ways To Protect Your Hair Whilst You Sleep

Whether you’re desperate to save your waves for one more day or want to avoid tangles, there are some really simple things that can help. At Additional Lengths like to focus on hair care just as much as hair styling, so read on for our five suggestions on how to protect your locks whilst you’re catching some zzz’s.

Blond woman with long straight hairs

Brush it out

Our first tip on how to protect your hair while sleeping is the most simple and easy thing you can do which may already be in your bedtime routine. By brushing or combing your hair thoroughly before sleep you’re clearing the hair of any knots and tangles that have built up during the day. Use a gentle brush such as a Tangle Teezer. If left overnight, they’re bound to get worse!

Get braiding

A simple way to prevent waking up to a tangled mess of hair which can take a long time to sort out is to put your hair into two plaits. For the more adventurous, why not try French braids? Not only will plaits keep your hair tangle-free, in the morning when you brush the hair or use your fingers to comb through, you’ll have lovely soft waves. Double benefits!

Dry hair thoroughly before hitting the hay

Wet hair is more prone to damage and breakage, leading to frizziness and split ends. Ensure enough time before showering and going to bed for your hair to dry naturally, or use heat protectant spray, such as the Additional Lengths Heat Shield, and use a hairdryer to make sure that the hair is completely dry before going to sleep.

Invest in a satin pillow

This may sound very ‘Princess and The Pea’ but bear with us because sleeping on a satin pillow can actually work wonders for your hair. Cotton pillowcases can cause pulling on the hair. The satin can work to reduce static present in the hair and keep it smooth, even if you’re tossing and turning throughout the night! Enjoy the feel of the silky soft fabric on your skin whilst your hair enjoys a break.

Apply a treatment

At Additional Lengths we love a good quality, nourishing hair treatment that can bring hair back to life and provide some much needed care after styling. By applying a treatment, such as the Additional Lengths Hair Extension Vitamin Spray treatment or Remi Cachet Hair Oil, and covering the head with a shower cap or something similar, the time you’re asleep is optimum time for your hair to receive nourishment. Wash out upon waking for silky soft, revived hair!
