September 2015

In last week’s blog we looked at the best hair from NYFW and LFW hair inspiration didn’t disappoint either.   The amazing healthy hair thee continued and again we picked out top looks for you to recreate today.

Buns remain and elegant favourite but Leigh Keates’ look for  Emilio de la Morena had an undone feel with the end left long and loose.  Bobby pins were the top accessory here to keep flyaway hair to a minimum and the bun and length in place.   The Jonathan Saunders collection added an edge to theirs with an undercut.

If pretty is your thing then the work of Indira Schauwecker for Giles will have every school girl and now mummy’s happy with the centre parting plaits; finished off with a perfect bow.

Simone Rocha was all about length at her shows with models sporting 24” extensions – #longhairdontcare we here you cry!    We just loved Stella McCartney’s long locks with crimping made cool again.

Centre partings were everywhere and you can read Vogue’s guide how to wear it well here.  Wet looks are back and so too is the quiff, but more of that in our round up from Milan up next.

New York Fashion Week has been and gone but here’s everything you need to know about the hair for Spring/Summer hair next year and its that fabulous, let’s try it out now!

The good news is that it’s all about showing off your gorgeous hair in a unfussy, natural manner. So don’t over think it or overuse the tools there’s some great hair styles without over-styling.   We are huge fans stylist Guido who works for VB none the less.   He talks of simple, shiny hair in loose ponies or left down natural.

We have however picked a couple of our other favs for last week’s catwalk:

The twist is a great hair updo and so simple to recreate from Altzarra.  Moving on a step is the rope from Public School and you can check out how to recreate this look here.   The new knot to try is the Sumo, seen here in Carolina Herrera collection and sported by the likes of Rita Ora so it’s already very popular.   This works well even if you don’t super-sleek it and keep it au-natural.

Accessories still make their mark with statement pieces.   Great for special events and not forgetting that all important Christmas Party season fast approaching.  #ChristmasisComing #ChristmasCountdown

Claims of Gigi Hadid ruling the catwalk and you can see each of her looks here, but Kendall Jenner is still a fav and we just loved her windswept look for Michael Kors.    Get either of their looks with Remi Cachet hair extensions, try their Ultra Tips which not only adds plenty of volume like our friends Kendal & Gigi, but the Indian Hair is perfect for natural waves.  Ask your #RCStylist how to get this gorgeous hair.

Make sure you stay tuned for later this week for the LFW round up.

Camping Capers

The team had a fun filled weekend glamping last month at Camp Katur – it was such a blast we thought we would share some snaps so you can put a face to the name of some of the team you speak to over the phone and the girls packing your orders.

A team building exercise; most of the staff from our two stores met in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales already for an action packed weekend.   After lots of segway fun we were divided into two teams: Vicky (MD) and Claire (Stockton Manager) to rescue a pilot from a wreck with lots of ingenuity and some girl guide knots!   Well done to Vicky’s team for winning this.  No trophy though.

Meet the team left to right for the snap with the plane:  Steph, Claire, Rachel, Alex, Gail, Vicky, Lauren, Rhianne, Rachael, Lindsay.

Campfire dancing (and scary storytelling thanks Rachael!), BBQ and sauna and hot tubs made for some relaxing.   Such a good weekend (and some sunshine) we’ll have to come up with something better for the next one!

Hair Tips

How to solve a bad hair day

We’ve all been there – woke up one day with a messy hair. On these days, it seems like nothing you can do will fix the bird’s nest on your head, and as a result, you try to cover it up by placing it in a bun or even putting a hat on. However, at Additional Lengths we believe that no one should have to use these dramatic cover ups, and should instead be able to have gorgeous looking hair every day. We offer a selection of products that are ideal for solving a bad hair day.

Instant Beehive

In addition to the above points, we also believe that a number of the products we stock can help you out in your efforts to rectify a bad hair day. Instant beehive is a wonderful product made by us that allow you to add a beehive – made famous in the 60’s and more recently by Amy Winehouse. The great thing about these is the fact that they don’t need to be smooth, straight or perfect; a messy beehive will give you extra volume, great for bad hair days.

Clip in Buns

Want to make your updo look like you’ve spent hours perfecting? A clip in bun is ideal for you. Simply place your hair in an updo and clip these handy weapons into your hair for an instant and effortless hairstyle. They are the perfect addition to your beauty collection and can help save you from a hair nightmare.

If you need any extra help, advice or guidance don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’ll be happy to recommend you a product to match your specific individual needs.

TV Choice Awards Best Tressed

Our favourite UK TV stars hit the red carpet for last night’s TV Choice Awards.  Well done to those who picked up a gong (especially Sheridan Smith for Best Actress for her portrayal of the legendary Cilla) but we have some more awards to to hand out for best tressed.

Amanda Holden super sleek blonde tresses compliment her outfit and following the trend to have her roots on show.  To get this look speak to you stylist about our Ultra Tip™ that are so discreet and lie perfectly flat to your scalp.  Here Amanda lets her hair flow down her back to around 20” and the platinum shines through.

Extension lover Michelle Keegan Wright looked radiant with her chocolate brown locks naturally flowing alongside her sister in law Jessica Wright who adds some extra caramel tones to lighten her look.  Volume is the key to both these looks so try our SuperWeft to achieve this.   Jessica’s tousled hair and hair up do is on point – check out ‘the hun’  and give it a try.  Don’t forget to to accessorize it up!

Also catching our eye was bronde beauty Amanda Byram with a simple centre parting and soft waves.  A  perfect ‘lob’ and use of colours for the most natural look – head to Remi Cachet’s Colour Chart to mix your own bronde by hand selecting three or four hues and keep the sun kissed look going through Autumn.
